Recruiting: Hunter Has Eyes Of Cowboys

Running back Kendall Hunter of Tyler (John Tyler), Texas, doesn't get mentioned among the top running back prospects on most projected Oklahoma State lists. But there was reported to be an OSU coach in the stands last week as the winless Lions knocked off the number one team in Class 4A in unbeaten Copperas Cove. Hunter put on a show as he finished with 187 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

"It felt pretty good," said Hunter. "Our team is really starting to come together and I think we have a great shot in district. It was nice to break out like that and I heard one of the Oklahoma State coaches may have been there."

Hunter has beefed up from his 5-9, 175 pounds in the summer and reports he is now weighing in at 185 pounds. As for recruiting attention?

"Oklahoma State calls me pretty regular, but that is about it," said Hunter. "I think I'm going to try and see some games and the first place I want to go is back up to Oklahoma State."

Hunter was in Stillwater for a camp this summer and said he favors the Cowboys. He added that he is also hoping to visit Iowa State, Kansas State and SMU. In the mean time he is enjoying a bye week and preparing for the first district game on Oct. 13 when John Tyler travels to Mesquite.
