Recruiting: Gerald Jones Likes The Walk

"I love the walk," said Oklahoma City (Millwood) quarterback/athlete Gerald Jones after attending the Oklahoma State homecoming game against Texas A&M on Saturday night. "I had never heard of that before. I love how the players get to walk by their fans on the way to the stadium. The atmosphere was crazy with a beautiful field and all the orange around."

Jones was at the game on an unofficial visit after recovering from an upper respiratory congestion that caused him to have to leave the game momentarily on Thursday as Millwood stayed unbeaten in district with a key win over Oklahoma Christian School. Moments after coming off the field, Jones returned to score on a short touchdown run and he still led the Falcons to victory.

As for the OSU-Texas A&M game, Jones said he left after the third quarter because of the cold and his recent illness, but he did have thoughts on what he saw.

"They (OSU) played good defense," he said. "Other than the first play I thought they got in focus and played good defense. I was impressed with the defense. On offense I thought they could have passed a little more."

Jones has said he will look carefully at both OSU and OU. He already has three official visits set up - to Texas Tech next weekend, Tennessee on Nov. 3, and Virginia Tech on Nov. 18. He said his final two official visits will probably be to Florida and Notre Dame.

The 6-0, 190-pound speedster that is being looked at as a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and defensive back will continue to check out the schools in state on unofficial visits.

This week Jones and Millwood face Wellston as the Falcons continue their drive toward the playoffs and a 2A state championship.
