Hoops Recruiting: Sidorakis Enjoys Visit

Oklahoma State commitment Nick Sidorakis enjoyed the sights and sounds surrounding the homecoming festivities this weekend while in Stillwater but the Jenks (Okla.) High School standout had more on his agenda during his official visit. Sidorakis spent part of his time trying to convince two other recruits – Jai Lucas and James Anderson – to join him as members of the Cowboy basketball family.

"I know those guys pretty well because we all played together on the same team and won the championship at the NBA Camp (this past summer)," said the 6-5, 180-pound Sidorakis, who committed to Oklahoma State in April.

"I spent some time trying to do some recruiting myself, trying to help Coach (Sean) Sutton out," Sidorakis continued. "I feel confident about it."

Sidorakis did say that neither Lucas or Anderson told him they were committing to Oklahoma State – at least not yet. Lucas still has trips to Maryland and Oklahoma scheduled, while Anderson's trip to Stillwater came after visits to Arkansas, Kansas and Florida.

Sidorakis liked what he saw during his official visit, which included watching a couple of practices, attending Saturday afternoon's Basketball Bash, an outing at Sean Sutton's house following the Bash, watching the OSU-Texas A&M football game Saturday night, and eating lunch at assistant coach James Dickey's home Sunday afternoon.

"It was good. I had a lot of fun," he said. "You hear how it is a big family at Oklahoma State and you wonder if that's true. It really is like a big family, and I got to see that first hand this weekend. It really is more than just talk."

Sidorakis said freshman Obi Muonelo was his host but that he spent most of the weekend around all the players. The team did most everything together – whether it be hanging out Friday night after practice or attending the football game Saturday.

Sidorakis said that he, Anderson and Lucas each met Friday afternoon with OSU President David Schmidly and athletic director Mike Holder.

The Jenks High School senior said his commitment is still solid and he will sign with the Cowboys in November.
