Future Cowboy Anderson Stars In Opener

Recent Oklahoma State signee James Anderson showed why he is considered one of the top 25 high school players in the country as he helped lead his Junction City (Ark.) team to an easy 80-60 victory over Summerfield, La., in the regular season opener Tuesday night. Anderson put up some big numbers, and you can read about it right here on GoPokes.com.

The 6-foot-6, 190-pound Anderson showed Tuesday night why OSU head coach Sean Sutton called him one of the Cowboys' most sought after recruits in recent years. The Junction City senior scored 40 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and had seven steals in the victory.

The Dragons jumped out to a 24-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, and Anderson scored nine of his points in the second period as Junction City held on to the 14-point advantage. He scored 14 of his team's 21 points in the fourth quarter to please the hometown fans at Junction City's gym.

The Dragons were scheduled to play again Friday night against Hampton but that game has been postponed because the Junction City football team is playing in the Arkansas Class 2A state playoffs. Junction City, 67-0 winners over Mountain Pine in last week's opening round, will face Murfreesboro in a second-round game Friday night.

Anderson and his teammates will be back in action next Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Bearden.
