Grading The Cowboys

Grading the Oklahoma State Cowboys following Saturday's 27-21 loss to 13th-ranked Oklahoma.

Quarterback: B-
The combination of Bobby Reid and Zac Robinson, in that five-receiver, empty backfield. There were mistakes by both players, but again the production was enough to give the Cowboys a chance to win.

Running Backs: C
Oklahoma is tough against the run and it showed on Saturday. Dantrell Savage only averaged 3.1 yards per carry. That is serious for a guy that was averaging seven yards a game. The backs could not pound it into the end zone.

Wide Receviers/Tight Ends: B
There were a few drops and they were usually forced, but both Adarius Bowman and D'Juan Woods made huge catches. Woods was a blocking machine. If you have the game on tape check out the fourth quarter block by Woods in which he oblitrated OU linebacker Rufus Alexander.

Offensive Line: C
They were solid, but give credit to the OU defense. In the end OU got the stops they wanted.

Defenzive Line: B-
Like most of the defense they were spotty in their play. Of course, it hurt losing guys to injuries throughout the game. Marque Fountain and defensive tackle Larry Brown played very well.

Linebckers: B
Rodrick Johnson and Patrick Lavine were the two leading tacklers. Both made their share of big plays. There is loads of young talent ready to emerge.

Defensive Backs: B
It was feared OU would go after the OSU secondary, but they didn't so much. The corners held up pretty good despite little zone and primarily man coverage. Safeties Andre Sexton and defensive end Marque Fountain made a lot of big plays.

Special Teams: B+
I don't know what you grade them on except kickoff coverage. Jason Ricks was perfect on three extra points and Matt Fodge was sensational punting the football with great hangtime. It helped force three fair catches by OU punt returner Reggie Smith.
