Recruiting: Herron High On OSU, Michigan

Linebacker Brandon Herron of Fort Bend (Dulles), Texas, is one of the highly rated linebackers in Texas, and according to Herron his recruiting choices are down to Oklahoma State and Michigan. Herron met the OSU coaches this summer at a camp and was offered a scholarship, but at the time he couldn't decide between OSU and Nebraska. Now he says it is serious between the Cowboys and Michigan.

"I wasn't at the game (OSU-OU) yesterday, but I would have loved to have been, either playing or watching," said the 6-2, 205-pound linebacker with 4.4 speed. "I didn't see it at the regular time but I was watching it at two in the morning and fell asleep in the third quarter.

"Coach (Joe) DeForest is coming into my house on Tuesday to meet with me and my parents and sit down and talk about Oklahoma State," continued Herron. "I really feel strong about Oklahoma State and Michigan. I am visiting Michigan (for an official visit) this weekend leaving on Friday."

Herron led Dulles in tackles as a junior and probably would have this season as well except he missed two games early in the season with a high hamstring strain. He did finish second on the team in tackles and had six sacks on the season. He helped lead Dulles into the Class 5A Division I playoffs where they lost in the first round to Pearland.

Herron said he is looking into majoring in physical therapy in college. He carries a 3.0 GPA and has qualified with his SAT score. He has a bench press max of 330 and an estimated squat of more than 400 pounds.

He felt he would no more after the home visit Tuesday with DeForest.
