Recruiting: Farmer, St. Pius X Go For State

Standout wide receiver and cornerback Tarence Farmer of Houston (St. Piux X), Texas, is stoked about this coming Saturday as the fleet 6-2, 190-pounder with 4.4 speed will join his teammates in trying to win the TAPPS state championship game against TCA-Addison. The game will be played in Temple, Texas, at noon on Saturday.

"We won our semifinal 28-21 over Fort Worth Nolan last weekend," said Farmer. "I didn't score a touchdown, but I had an interception and eight tackles on defense."

On the season Farmer has proven his worth as a wide receiver with 36 receptions for an eye popping 905 yards, an average of close to 24 yards a reception. He has caught 12 touchdown passes. Farmer has scholarship offers from Tennessee, Oklahoma State and Kansas.

"Nebraska came by practice and they have come into the picture," said Farmer. "I think they are close to offering a scholarship. Washington is also showing interest."

Farmer said he is focusing right now on the game this Saturday, but said he has interest in all three schools that have offered. He has set up a visit for Jan. 19 to Tennessee and is hoping to set up a visit to Oklahoma State after this weekend.

The multi-talented athlete also plays basketball, but that may not happen this season. "I don't know if I am going to play," said Farmer. "After this Saturday I want to get into recruiting and decide where I'm heading for the future with recruiting."
