Recruiting: Ahmad Jones Loved His Visit

Standout lineman Ahmad Jones of Silsbee, Texas, is solid as a rock when it comes to his commitment to Oklahoma State. Jones was one of the committed players that made his official visit to Stillwater last weekend, and he came away stronger on the Cowboys than when he walked in – and he was pretty solid to begin with when he arrived.

"I loved it," Jones said of the visit. "The food was really good and that was part of it, but it is family up there. Those guys are not for themselves, they are there for each other. You know at some schools the freshmen are not respected, but it is not that way at all at Oklahoma State. They (players) care about everybody and it is really a family. I love that."

Jones said he plans on playing defense going in. Yes, he is aware that playing time could come early for a freshman at defensive tackle if he can prove he is ready.

"They were recruiting me for both offense and defense, but I want to play defense and that is where they say I will start out," said the 6-2, 300-pound Jones. "They lost most of the players at defensive tackle, and yes, I want to play as a freshman. I feel I can get up there in the summer in June and get ready with the workouts so that when two-a-days come I can show my skills."

Jones is playing basketball right now and said after a slow start coming off football that Silsbee is getting it going now on the hardwood. No surprise he plays in the paint and it is probably not a lot of fun for opposing post players.

"I don't think anybody wants to come in there with me," said Jones. "They sure don't act like they want to get in there with me, because not many try it."
