Recruiting: Cooper To Decide Around Dec. 30

We like a recruit that cuts through the typical recruiting talk and just gets down to what he's thinking. Milford Prep (Conn.) running back Graig Cooper does that. The very talented Cooper, who rushed for more than 1,200 yards at prep school this past fall and more than 2,000-yards his senior season at Melrose High School in Memphis, Tenn., says he will decide between three schools.

"Yes, I've dropped Florida and it is either going to be North Carolina, Miami or Oklahoma State," said Cooper, who visited North Carolina last week and is now back home in Tennessee for the holidays.

Cooper is also anxiously waiting on the results of the ACT that he took two weeks ago, as that will be his key to heading to college sooner rather than later.

"I plan on making my decision right after Christmas," said the 6-1, 190-pound speedster that clocks a consistent 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. "I would say like the 30th I'll have a decision. North Carolina was nice. The campus was like I like it, a little college town. I like that. I like Coach Powell the running back coach and Coach (Butch) Davis.

"Miami, the football team has always been my favorite and those are my guys down there and I like Coach (Randy) Sanders (new head coach)," added Cooper.

"Coach (Curtis) Luper is my guy too," Cooper said about Oklahoma State. "The whole coaching staff there is cool and I liked my visit there. It's a college town like I like."

Again, look for a decision the 30th from Cooper. Miami would seem to be the favorite but he was enthusiastic in talking about all three schools.
