Recruiting: Martinez Turns Some Heads

Offensive lineman Nick Martinez of Floresville, Texas, was called in as an addition to the U.S. Army All-American Game but by the end of the week and Saturday's game he had proven to teammates, coaches, opponents, and the selection committee that he should have been on the list from the beginning.

"I felt really good about it," Martinez said of the entire experience. "It was great experience for me and I thought I played pretty good in the game."

The real bonus for the 6-4, 295-pound blocker was the work all week in practice.

"It was great for me going against the best in the nation all week in practice," said Martinez. "It was just like what I'm going to see in college, so I had the chance to see what is ahead of me. I learned a lot and found out things that I do well and things that I need to work on."

We caught up with Martinez and he was already at home spending time with some friends before getting back to school next week.

"It gives me a lot of confidence as I get ready to head up to Oklahoma State, and now I need to work on staying in shape and being ready for next season," concluded Martinez.
