Recruiting: Scratch Davis From Visit List

Wide receiver Damian Davis of Mart, Texas, will not make his originally scheduled official visit to Oklahoma State this weekend, but don't panic. The 6-5, 190-pound leader of Mart's Class 2A state championship football team has good reason to back out. Davis, who plays football, basketball, track, and baseball for Mart, is staying home for an district showdown basketball game with Marlin.

"I don't know when I am going to get up there, but this is a big game for us," Davis said of the Friday night game with Marlin. "A lot of us are just now getting into basketball after football and we need to play well. We beat Teague on Tuesday by 32 points and I had 27 points in the game."

The basketball coach at Mart really wants Davis to be around on Friday. Davis says that one of the main reasons he committed to Oklahoma State was the fact that the Cowboys recruited him to play both sports, even though Davis says he thinks football is his best sport.

This season Davis earned A.P. Texas All-State honors in Class 2A along with winning the state championship as he finished with 56 receptions for 1,182 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also returned several kicks and punts back for scores and on defense had five interceptions. In the middle of the season he played one game at quarterback for the Panthers.

"I like Stillwater and that was one of the main reasons I chose Oklahoma State," said Davis. "I'm looking forward to getting up there. I just don't know when I'll get to make that visit."
