Hoops Recruiting: Moses To Visit This Weekend

Oklahoma State is looking to sign some post players during the April signing period with Mario Boggan and David Monds both using up their eligibility this season. One of those players whose signature that Sean Sutton wouldn't mind getting will be arriving in Stillwater on Sunday, and sticking around for Monday night's Bedlam showdown inside Gallagher-Iba Arena against Oklahoma.

Marshall Moses, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound power forward who is averaging 27 points and 12 rebounds this season at Patterson Prep in North Carolina, will be flying out of North Carolina early Sunday morning and expects to be in Stillwater by noon, he said Saturday night.

"I'm really looking forward to it, especially since it's my first official visit," said Moses, who returned my call during the OSU-Texas A&M game, which he and his Patterson Prep teammates were watching while also flipping the channel to the North Carolina-Georgia Tech contest.

The Cowboys just recently got involved with Moses, who also is being recruited by Kentucky, Kansas State, Illinois and North Carolina State.

"My AAU coach (Brian Clifton of D One Sports) has been talking to them about a month or two. He told me that Oklahoma State really, really wants me to be a part of the program and they really wanted me to come in for a visit," Moses said.

It was just a couple of weeks ago that he finally visited with Cowboy assistant coach Jimmy Williams, and then he talked with head coach Sean Sutton.

"They're great people," Moses said. "They really follow up on their word, and that means a lot. When I talked to coach Williams he said he was flying out to see me the next day. I really didn't expect to see him, but when I walked into practice the next day there he was. That impressed me."

Moses talked about how impressed he was with OSU's performance in Tuesday night's triple-overtime victory over Texas, which he watched on ESPN2. "I really wanted to come down and visit anyways before that game, but that was just icing on the cake. It was a great game. I really liked how they played together as a team," he said.

What will Moses be looking for when he makes his first official visit this weekend? "I really just want to see the atmosphere. Any of the schools that I play to visit are good basketball schools, so I just want to see how comfortable I will be. How the players get along and how comfortable I am with the players and the coaches," Moses said.

Moses said he plans to take a scheduled visit to Kansas State next weekend (Jan. 26-28) and has been visiting with Kentucky about setting up a visit for early February.
