Recruiting: Davis Takes A Break From Hoops

Two-sport standout Damian Davis of Mart, Texas, found a suitable break in his basketball schedule and made his way to Stillwater this weekend to visit his future college home. Davis made a commitment to the Cowboys this past summer after he made an unofficial visit to OSU with his high school coach Rusty Nail and really sounded like he has made himself at home in Stillwater when interviewed.

"It was great coming back home to OSU," said the 6-5, 190-pound Davis on Sunday of his visit which was hosted by Cowboy wide receiver Tommy Devereaux. "There wasn't anything really that stood out, just that they treated me like I already go to school there and I liked that."

Davis has had back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons earning All-State honors in Texas Class 2A both seasons and leading Mart to the state championship this season. He is also an All-State performer in basketball.

"I had a ball," added Davis. "It was awesome. They had a little bit of everything to eat, -- chicken, rive, enchiladas, mashed potatoes, and I had a little of everything."

Davis said the visit timed out well as he and his Mart teammates have some important basketball games coming up over the next several weeks with maybe the biggest showdown coming the night before signing day when they take on Marlin Feb. 6.
