Recruiting: Broyles Back With The Cowboys

Ryan Broyles told Go Pokes on Thursday night that he is following his heart and will sign with Oklahoma State on national signing day next Wednesday. The Norman (Okla.) High School standout re-committed to the Cowboys after what turned into a firestorm of a recruiting chase and a media circus the last four days.

The 6-0, 170-pound Broyles has been in seclusion, along with his family most of this week, after making his official visit to Oklahoma State last weekend. He came out of the visit last weekend saying he was "totally committed" to Oklahoma State and on his visit saw what he wanted as he spent time with Cowboy players. On Monday the reports surfaced that Broyles had reconsidered and was making a commitment to the University of Oklahoma. Later that day his stepfather, Edward Moore, told Go Pokes that Ryan was confused and needed to think things out. Both schools made in-home visits to the Broyles and his family this week.

"My heart was always with Oklahoma State," Broyles said Thursday night, "but when I got back from my visit and talked to some friends and the OU coaches I got a little confused, and started thinking about how it might be good to go to Oklahoma.

"Over the last few days my head has cleared and I realize that Oklahoma State is where I really where I wanted to go and where I need to be," Broyles continued.

Broyles said, "I'm hoping to get some peace and quiet before signing day (next Wednesday). It's been very difficult the last few days, but I am 100 percent committed to Oklahoma State."

Reports began surfacing early Thursday afternoon that Broyles was back in the saddle with the Cowboys, and that the Norman Public Schools would be issuing a release to that affect. But the Norman superintendent reportedly decided that the school district would not be involved, and told Broyles and his family that they would have to make the announcement, and that's what Broyles did Thursday night when he called Go Pokes to confirm that he was going to be a Cowboy.
