Recruiting: Thompson Gets OSU Offer

Tight end Taylor Thompson of Prosper, Texas called us on Thursday night to report he received his first written offer.

"It blows my mind," said Thompson after revealing that he had his first official college scholarship offer and that it came from Oklahoma State. "They are definitely a school I think I could go play for and attend. The coach sent me a text message saying that the offer was sent and I was so excited to get that. I am going up there to Oklahoma State for the spring game next week (April 14)."

Thompson, who is also hearing from Texas A&M, TCU, Kansas, and Utah, made a huge splash with his performance at the Scout combine in Dallas last month. Thompson ran a 4.75 in the 40-yard dash, a 4.33 in the pro agility drill, and a 7.40 in the L-cone drill. He also had a 30.3-inch vertical jump and an 8'11" in the standing broad jump.

Thompson is 6-6, 229 pounds which is great size for a high school tight end prospect especially to play in a passing offense. Thompson also competes in basketball and track. He high jumps, triple jumps, and runs the 100 and 200 meters. He also reports a 305-pound bench press max and a 405-pound max in the squat.

Thompson plays both ways and caught 22 passes last season for 375 yards and a touchdown.

No doubt, Oklahoma State would love to get a verbal commitment before more schools jump in the boat with an offer.
