Recruiting: Grove LB Is A Special Player

Being up in the northeast corner of the state, Grove doesn't get as much exposure sometimes across the state of Oklahoma. But in the statewide-televised Class 4A state championship game between champion OKC Bishop McGuinness and Grove, everybody got to see linebacker R.J. Bartley. The 6-0, 22- pound Bartley makes plays sidelines to sidelines and packs a punch when he gets there.

Bartley has more than 400 tackles for his high school career and that total will grow a bunch this upcoming season.

Bartley took in the Oklahoma State Orange-White spring game Saturday and said he liked what he saw. "I loved it," said Bartley. "I mean I really like it there. It was mainly the staff that sold me on it. I like the coaches, their attitude. I like what they do there."

That may sound strange coming from a standout linebacker that grew up an OU fan. Bartley said he has heard from both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, along with Missouri, SMU, Navy, and Army.

He is also a standout wrestler that qualified for the state tournament this season. He has a bench press max of 290 and a squat max of 390. He also reports that his academics are in good shape.

Oklahoma State appears to be in good shape early in the recruiting, but Bartley said he will attend two camps this summer, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.
