Recruiting: Wolridge Gets Another Offer

We caught up with linebacker Andrew Wolridge of Lexington, Texas, at his regional track meet. Wolridge said he was in an extended break at the two-day meet after competing in the discus earlier in the day. His better events, the shot put and the 100 meters, were coming up.

That may seem like an unique combination and it is. But then Wolridge is a unique athlete as he is strong and powerful enough to be considered as a defensive end prospect, but fast enough to play outside linebacker.

Woolrdige was excited in talking to us as he had just heard from Oklahoma State with his fourth scholarship offer so far.

"I just got an offer from Oklahoma State," said Wolridge. "That is my fourth offer and a school I am really interested in. I've also received offers from Baylor, Duke and Missouri."

Asked what other schools had contacted him, Wolridge added, "I've heard from Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU, and, uh, Oklahoma."

Wolridge, who reports he has good grades, was a dominating player last season with 108 tackles and 10 sacks. Recently he motored 4.68 in the 40-yard dash at the Scout combine held at the Dallas Cowboys' Valley Ranch facility. He said he has a 345-pound max in the bench press,a 585-pound squat, and a 33-inch vertical jump.

"I'm trying to weigh all my options," said Wolridge of his time table for recruiting. "It's too early so far to be narroing down my favorites. I'm wanting to make my decision before the start of my senior season."

To that end Wolridge said he attend camps this summer at TCU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State and Baylor.
