Recruiting: Thompson Up To Seven Offers

Offensive lineman Brandon Thompson of The Woodlands, Texas won't be confused with some of those tall trees that fill the landscape in the beautiful suburb north of Houston, but he is a major target among schools like Oklahoma State when it comes to offensive line prospects. The 6-6, 280-pound Thompson is very athletic for his size.

He throws the shot and the discus in track. He has a best time on the track of 5.08 in the 40-yard dash. His strength numbers are good too with a bench press max of 340 pounds and a squat max of 500 pounds. His vertical is amazing at 31 inches.

"I've been offered by Texas Tech, they were first, and then Oklahoma State, Purdue, Northwestern, Rice, Boises State and Air Force," said Thompson. "Boston College has started texting me and Texas A&M, Arizona and Iowa State. It's too early for me to have a favorite."

However, Thompson said he does have a plan of maybe making a decision before his senior season.

"It would be really nice to commit before the start of the season," he added. "If it doesn't work out that way then I can handle that if it goes into the season."

Speaking of season, The Woodlands is into its second week of spring football, which Thompson said is going well.

"Our offense is going to be good and our defense is going to be better than most people think," said Thompson of the upcoming 2007 season. "We've had some college coaches watching practices."

A lot of those evaluating eyes of college coaches have been on Thompson because while he may not be as tall as the area trees he does stand out in the crowd.
