Recruiting: Cowboys Get Another Commitment

Defensive end Tim Benford of Jersey Village, Texas, called us back pretty quick Tuesday night to confirm what teammate running back Anthony Bibbs had told us. "Yes, I committed to Oklahoma State," said the soft spoken 6-5, 230-pound Benford. "They gave me an offer and I decided to go with it."

The offers will likely start coming in following his commitment to Oklahoma State, as Benford said Kansas called to offer him a scholarship today.

"I'm solid on Oklahoma State," he said. "Coach Joe DeForest told me over the phone that he was glad I decided to commit and I'm excited about going to the OSU camp (in Houston) next week and meeting all the coaches."

Benford said he had not been to the Oklahoma State campus, but said is looking forward to doing that soon. He did not know his stats from last season, but said he does have a 300-pound bench press max and a 475-pound squat. He is a definite defensive end prospect who really excels right now at this stage of his career with pass rushing.

You won't find Benford's name on very many recruiting checklists, but that is not unusual for Oklahoma State as they often go off the script for prospects such as wide receiver Damina Davis of Mart, Texas, and Adrian Moore of Pine Bluff (Whitehall), Ark., in last year's recruiting class.
