Recruiting: Another Offer After Sunday's Camp

Wide receiver Adrian Richards of Mesquite, Texas showed some determination, and the Oklahoma State coaching staff must have admired his drive. Richards attended an OSU mini-camp in Texas over a week ago at DeSoto High School. But he was determined to get a scholarship offer from the Cowboys so drove to Stillwater on Sunday afternoon for the one-day camp on the OSU campus.

"It was about like the camp at DeSoto that I competed in," said Richards, a 6-3, 185-pounder with 4.5 speed. "I did a good job in DeSoto and I thought I did a good job on Sunday catching the ball and running my routes.

"I do have an interest in Oklahoma State and it is a school that I would like to go to," added Richards.

So how did he know that he had gained the Cowboys attention, their admiration, and a scholarship offer? "My head coach at Mesquite, Coach Halpin, called me when I was on my way home and told me that I had an offer from Oklahoma State," explained Richards. "Then I talked to Coach (Todd) Bradford and he said I had an offer."

Richards, who caught 50 passes as a junior for 704 yards and nine touchdowns, said he has 10 scholarship offers. Besides OSU, he has the choice of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Boise State, among others. He said he is not sure about his timetable.

"I'm taking it day by day," he said. "I know I want to go to the Florida camp in July, but before and after that I'm not sure. I'm glad I got the offer from Oklahoma State."
