Go Pokes Magazine Wins Top Honor

We've all heard the saying, "What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Vegas." Well, that may be true for most people but not this time. Go Pokes Magazine received the highest honor when the first ever Scout Publisher Awards were announced earlier this month in Las Vegas. Go Pokes Magazine was recognized as the "Best Overall Magazine–64 Pages & Above" for college magazines.

Go Pokes Magazine was presented the award for Best Overall Magazine in the college publishing division, which includes magazines for 35 other Division I schools, including Alabama ("Bama Mag), California (The Bear Insider), Florida (Fightin' Gators), Nebraska (Big Red Report), Notre Dame (Irish Eyes), Ohio State (Buckeye Sports Bulletin), Oklahoma (Sooners Illustrated), Texas (Inside Texas), USC (We Are SC), and many others.

The category of "Best Overall Magazine–64 Pages & Above" included the largest and most comprehensive magazines in Scout Publishing's college division.

"We are pleased that our peers recognized our work and selected us to receive this award," said Go Pokes Publisher Terry Tush. "I think I speak for myself and Executive Editor Robert Allen when I say that we believe that Oklahoma State fans deserve the best – whether we're talking the finest facilities in the nation or the top magazine in which to follow the Cowboys and Cowgirls – and we're happy that we can be a part of giving them the finest magazine among all college publishers in the nation."

The magazine was started in 1993 as the O-State Sports Report by a pair of Oklahoma State alums – Edd Bellatti and Roscoe Migliore. The name was changed to Go Pokes Magazine in 2004 when Citadel Publishing (now Scout Media, Inc.) purchased it and several other magazines from First Down Publications.

Go Pokes Magazine recently announced its commitment to continue to provide OSU fans with the best look at Cowboy athletics. We are expanding and improving the magazine to be even better. It will now be full color throughout (no more cutting costs by printing half of the pages in color and the other half black-and white). The magazine will be perfect bound and not saddle-stitched with staples, giving it more of a professional look. And we are providing an additional 20 pages of content by making the decision to have each issue be a minimum of 84 pages. Thus, OSU fans will receive a magazine with more pages, more color and a more professional look than ever before.

"We are dedicated to providing Cowboy and Cowgirl fans with the best magazine possible, and these improvements show that commitment," says Tush.

The 35 college-specific magazines in the Scout Publishing network include periodicals that cover Alabama, BYU, California, Clemson, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Penn State, Stanford, Syrcause, Texas, Tennessee, USC, Washington and Wisconsin.

Scout Media, Inc., the parent company of Scout.com, the country's No. 1 independent online sports network, is owned by Fox Interactive Media, a subsidiary of FoxSports. Scout Publishing is the producer of 45 of the most widely read local sports magazines in the United States.

Now is your chance to join thousands of other Cowboy fans who already receive Go Pokes Magazine.
