Recruiting: Aluko Waiting On Offers

Lineman Emmanuel Aluko of Alief (Elsik), Texas has not wasted any time this summer as he has made it to several camps and said he will be on the go some in July as he continues looking for a college destination. We mentioned in an earlier story that Aluko is a bright student who is looking to major in Pre-Law in college. The question on the football field is which side of the line do you play him?

At 6-3, 270 pounds, he has the size to play on either side and his athleticism -- he has been timed at a 4.8 and change in the 40-yard dash -- says he has the talent to play on defense at end or tackle. He squats over 500 pounds so strength is no problem. In between working at Pizza Hut, and no he hasn't been carb loading on Supremes during his work breaks, he has hit several camps.

"I went to an Oklahoma State camp, UTEP camp, and North Texas," said Aluko. "They were all three good camps. Oklahoma State was down here and I thought it was awesome. Coach (Joe) DeForest is recruiting me and he is a good guy. The UTEP camp was in Houston too and it went good. I went to North Texas and that went really good and they offered me after the camp."

So far he has offers from North Texas and Louisiana Tech, and he is anticipating more. "I'm going to go to Texas and work with them," said Aluko of his plans coming up. "I'm also going to go back up to North Texas for about a week."

In the meantime he said he will continue working out and working his job at Pizza Hut. Asked about the weather in Houston lately Aluko said it has been strange. "Weird," he actually said. "It will be hot and then it will rain. It gets hot again and then it rains more than before. The other day I was running and it was thundering but no rain."

We think it is a little weird that more schools haven't joined in on offering Aluko a scholarship. It will be even more weird if that list doesn't grow before the end of the summer.
