Recruiting: Whaley To Wait Until Season

Linebacker Alonzo Whaley of Madisonville, Texas said he is just working out and working through the dog days of the summer. Whaley is working outdoors, which this summer means he has been getting wet with all the rain in the southwest, so he is ready for some dry weather. As far as his recruiting, Whaley said he is hearing from more schools.

"I've heard from a lot more schools, so I guess you could say I'm kind of rated high," said the 6-1, 215-pound linebacker who had 172 tackles last season. "I went to UTEP camp recently and I could have gone to Oklahoma State, but since I had been up there I didn't really need to go. I know those guys and I like Oklahoma State."

Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech and Houston are also in the mix.

"I'm really hoping I have a fantastic season, and if I do then I might hear from even more schools," said Whaley. "I'm going to wait on my decision and take it into the season and see where it goes from there."
