Cowboy Practices Will Be Open

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy told us Wednesday during the Big 12 Conference Media Days in San Antonio that he will have open practices at the start of fall camp when the team reports next Wednesday, Aug. 1, and begins practice the following day.

"I want to have open practices like we always do at the start of camp," said Gundy. "We'll have temn open for the first week to 10 days, up to the first scrimmage. We may have to close them down a little sooner because of that first game. I know we have a lot of good fans, our people that want to see practice and they are going to come in and watch and not hurt us at all. However, it just takes one person to come in and put a bunch of stuff on the Internet and then we are having to start over again."

Gundy was referring to the element of surprise with items on offense and the Tim Beckman defense that Georgia has had trouble collecting information about. Gundy and his staff would like to have some element of surprise on Sept. 1.

You can probably count on the first week for now being open provided the Internet posters stay away. We will have practice reports daily, but they will be minus any X's and O's information in cooperating with the Oklahoma State football staff.

Practices on single practice days including the first four days of acclimation will begin with stretching exercises at 4:45 p.m. Two-a-day practices will begin with stretching at 10 a.m. for the morning practice and 5:45 p.m. for the second practice of the day.
