Recruiting: Gray Still Has 11 On His Board

Running back Cyrus Gray of DeSoto, Texas said his recruiting is status quo for now and shouldn't change much until games start being played in September. Midway through the summer the 5-11, 190-pound speedster narrowed his list down to 11 schools, which included Oklahoma State, Arizona, California, Florida, Kansas, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, Penn State, SMU, and Texas A&M.

"It's those same 11 schools, nothing much has changed," said Gray. "When the games start up here soon I will be watching those and after that I hope to narrow it down to five where I will take my official visits."

Gray has made some visits this summer and that includes an excursion to Stillwater, and recently a trip to College Station to see Texas A&M. He said one favor in Oklahoma State's favor is Cowboys running backs and assistant head coach Curtis Luper, who is doing the main recruiting on Gray.

"Coach Lupe is probably the coolest guy and the one that I can most easily talk to out of every coach I talk to," said Gray. "I get along with him the best. I gave him my email and he has told me that I will really like what they do with their running backs this season."

Gray is from the same high school as former Cowboy great and current Detroit Lion running back Tatum Bell, but he said he has only met Bell once. He does believe that it would be good to follow in Bell's footsteps to OSU and he definitely wants to play in the NFL.

Gray finished his junior season with 222 carries for 1,510 yards and 31 touchdowns. He also had 38 receptions for 438 yards and two touchdowns and returned a whopping four punts for scores.

Gray benches 305 pounds, squats 585 pounds and has a 34-inch vertical jump. Also claims to run a 10.43 in the 100 meters.

Gray He reports a 3.2 core GPA and says he's not sure what his SAT score is. "I know I've got it back, but I don't really know." He will be taking government and economics in summer school.
