Cowboy Football Practice Notes: Day 6

The work in both the morning and afternoon practices was on PAT/field goal and punt team. In the afternoon practice kicker Jason Ricks was a perfect four-for-four as he hit the point-after-touchdown, and field goals of 30, 36, and 42 yards. The afternoon punt work was on punting off the backline of the end zone with a short snap, and on working on downing punts inside the 20.

Just as we predicted, no decision on Oklahoma State and Texas Tech moving their Big 12 football series to a neutral site in Dallas would happen until Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was involved.

Sources within the athletic department have said the issue is now a serious topic and that Jones is expected to visit Stillwater soon to sit down and, perhaps, finalize an agreement for the series to be played at the 100,000-seat, state-of-the-art stadium Jones is building in Arlington, Texas.

No word on when the series would make the move, but 2010 would seem to be the strongest possibility. We get the feeling that there is a 90-percent chance of a deal to move the series to Dallas. We also hear the financial windfall is a deal that simply cannot be turned down.

Camp Cowboy is scheduled for Sunday as the players, coaches, and athletic staff will dine together and hear about the traditions of Oklahoma State and Cowboy football. During the popular event the players also get a refresher course on the words to the alma mater and fight song.
