Cowboy Football Practice Notes: Day 16

Oklahoma State received on Friday a faxed copy of former USC running back Emmanuel Moody's release. OSU, in all certainty, was not the only school to receive a copy of Moody's release. The release was sent as a courtesy from the school the player is transferring from to schools he may be interested in transferring to in the future.

Moody decided earlier this week to transfer after gaining 459 yards and scoring 2 touchdowns as a freshman to be the Trojans second-leading rusher.

Injury problems had set Moody back in his pursuit for playing time in a crowded running back situation at Southern Cal. Originally from Coppell, Texas, where he was a standout and blue chip recruit, the 6-1, 205-pound Moody is believed to be looking for a school closer to home where he can be a featured back.

It is possible that Moody could make visits, including Oklahoma State, as soon as next week. Attempts to reach Moody on his cell phone went unanswered Thursday night and Friday.

Oklahoma State head football trainer Rob Hunt said Friday was the first practice during camp where the Cowboys didn't start the workout with a heat index of more than100 degrees. At the start of practice at 5:15 p.m., the heat index was 99 degrees with the air temperature being 94 degrees. Saturday's high is expected to be around 86 degrees.

The Miami Dolphins must really like someone on the Cowboy roster as a scout from the AFC East team was at practice for the second day in a row. The shorter practice also drew a scout from the Baltimore Ravens.
