Emmanuel Moody: OSU Out Of The Running

Oklahoma State coaches were hoping for the final visit from former USC running back Emmanuel Moody. In the end it appears an early visit may have been the right strategy. Moody announced Friday he was deciding between North Carolina and Florida, and Oklahoma state was not longer in the picture. Go Pokes spoke with Moody late Friday afternoon, a day some sources had said he would be visiting OSU.

"I have decided I'm going to either North Carolina or Florida," said Moody, who appeared along with two other USC running backs on the cover of the West Coast college preview editions of Sports Illustrated. "I just felt like I was running out of time to get into a school. Both of those schools are in college towns, which is a departure from where I was in L.A.

"I've been in college a year and I know what I want and both those schools have it. Both of the coaching staffs are solid and that is what makes it so hard to decide."

Moody said he will not make his scheduled visits to Oklahoma State and Texas. "I haven't told the coaches at Oklahoma State and Texas that I'm not coming because I really just made the decision (narrowing it to UNC and UF) this afternoon, but I will call them," said Moody.

He added that both schools have majors in religion, his major at USC, and that he intends to continue with that path academically. He is hoping now that he can decide between the Tar Heels and Gators quickly, so he can get settled in and get back to class and back to the practice field.

Sources late Friday afternoon claimed that Oklahoma State was hoping to hear from Moody soon on when he would arrive for a visit to Stillwater. The coaching staff will likely hear from Moody soon that his arrival, much ballyhooed by fans since the announcenment that he was leaving USC, will never happen.
