Future Cowboys In Week Nine

Each week throughout the season GoPokes.com will track the progress of the 18 high school football players who have verbally committed to sign with Oklahoma State next February. Here are the results for each of the players' teams from the ninth week of the high school season.

Wichita Falls (Texas) High Coyotes
Anderson's 35-yard kickoff return to start the game Friday night gave the Coyotes great field position and they drove the length of the field for a touchdown en route to a 31-17 victory over Guyer.

TIM BENFORD, DE (6-5, 230)
Jersey Village (Texas) High Falcons
Jersey Village saw its record fall to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in District 17-5A with a 28-15 loss to Cy Ridge on Saturday night.

Westfield (Houston, Texas) High Mustangs
Westfield won its fourth game in a row – 41-17 over Klein on Saturday – to improve to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in District 16-5A to set up this Friday's showdown with district co-leader Klein Oak (8-0, 4-0).

DAJUAN DAVIS, OT (6-4, 295)
Crowley (Texas) High Eagles
Crowley saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Friday night as undefeated Everman rolled to an easy 30-3 victory. It doesn't get any easier for the Eagles as they play at No. 1-ranked Stephenville this Friday.

ALFRED DUPREE, LB (6-2, 210)
Skyline (Dallas, Texas) High Raiders
Dupree and his Raider teammates recorded their third consecutive shutout, allowing just seven first downs and 53 total yards, as Skyline defeated W.T. White High 49-0 on Friday night to improve to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in District 11-5A.

La Marque (Texas) High Cougars
La Marque started a new streak Friday night. The Cougars saw their 19-game winning streak over the past two seasons brought to an end last week by rival Texas City but got a new streak started with a 35-14 victory over Santa Fe.

JEREMY GRAY, DE (6-6, 235)
Sherman (Texas) High Bearcats
Sherman had a bye week but returns to action this Friday at Denton Guyer.

JACKIE HINTON, WR (5-11, 185)
Channelview (Texas) High Falcons
Hinton rushed for 160 yards on 20 carries, including an 8-yard touchdown run, and caught two passes for 10 yards but it wasn't enough as Channelview suffered a 40-30 loss to Kingwood on Friday night.

PATRICK HOOG, OG (6-4, 295)
Medina Valley (Texas) High Panthers
Hoog and the offensive line did the job Friday night as Medina Valley rushed for 294 yards and four touchdowns en route to a 31-6 victory over Somerset. The Panthers improve to 3-6 overall and close out the season on Nov. 9 at Lytle.

JUSTIN HORTON, TE (6-4, 220)
Henderson (Texas) High Lions
Horton scored on a touchdown on a 20-yard run and also had a team-best six catches for 74 yards Friday night but Henderson couldn't pull off the upset of Whitehouse, which held on for a 24-21 victory.

VICTOR JONES, LB (6-1, 220)
Richland (North Richland Hills, Texas) High Rebels
Richland scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns but it was too little too late as Grapevine held on for a 31-16 victory Friday night.

TRAVIS MILLER, RB (5-10, 180)
Marlin (Texas) High Bulldogs
Miller scored on a 60-yard run in the second quarter but that's the only time he reached the end zone as Teague defeated Marlin 28-20 in overtime Friday night.

Mesquite (Texas) High Skeeters
Richards has five catches for 34 yards as Mesquite defeated Horn 21-0 Friday night for its fifth consecutive victory, and sets up this week's showdown for first place in District 12-5A with Longview.

QUINN SHARP, K (6-0, 180)
Summit (Arlington, Texas) High Jaguars
Sharp kicked field goals of 55 and 44 yards and scored 10 points as Summit defeated Weatherford 34-10 Friday night.

KODY SPANO, QB (6-2, 200)
Stephenville (Texas) High Yellow Jackets
Spano sat out Friday night's game after suffering a shoulder injury a week earlier but the Class 4A No. 1-ranked Stephenville Yellow Jackets didn't need him in a 52-14 victory over Mineral Wells on Friday night.

KYE STALEY, ATH (6-0, 200)
Guthrie (Okla.) High Bluejays
Staley had just one yard on 14 carries but the Bluejays improved to 9-0 and clinched the District 5A-2 title with a 24-21 victory over Carl Albert on Friday night.

LANE TAYLOR, OG (6-2, 295)
Arlington Martin (Texas) High Colts
Thursday night's showdown between crosstown rivals Arlington Martin and Arlington Bowie, both who started the season 7-0, did not go the way of Taylor and his Colt teammates. Martin suffered a 49-21 loss to Bowie in the game that was originally scheduled for Friday night but moved to Thursday night because of the build up leading to the kickoff.

South Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie, Texas) High Warriors
South Grand Prairie had one of its two victories taken away last week when it was learned they used an ineligible player in a win over Arlington, and it didn't get much better Friday night when the Warriors suffered a 24-13 loss to Irving MacArthur.
