Recruiting: Juco Defensive Tackle Visiting

It is no secret that Oklahoma State coaches are on the look out for defensive tackles and the junior college ranks are getting checked out by the Cowboy staff. Georgia Military College defensive tackle LeRoy Burgess will be checking out OSU and the Cowboys this weekend.

The 6-1, 300-pound Burgess is checking out primarily four schools coming off his 26 tackle, 6.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, an interception and a fumble caused sophomore performance at GMC.

"I'm just checking my options out," said Burgess over the phone. "I know I'm going to make my decision in December, and right now it is kind of equal with all the schools."

Oklahoma State will be his third of four planned visits when he heads to Stillwater for a recruiting weekend this Friday. He has already visited Mississippi and North Carolina State. Kansas State will be his final visit.

"It's really those four," said Burgess. "I haven't heard from Troy (his fifth school) in a while.

"The visit to Mississippi was pretty good until they fired their head coach earlier this week," said Burgess in going over his choices. "I really liked it there because of the head coach, so now I don't really know.

"It (N.C. State visit) went pretty well," said Burgess of his trip last weekend. "You can just tell that Coach O'Brien is getting it turned around and that they are going to be to a winning status.

"Coach Beckman is recruiting me for Oklahoma State," said Burgess turning to the Cowboys. "I really like OSU because of the facilities that they are building. They are putting a lot of money in the program and I like that, and that I can come in and play right away.

"I'll visit Kansas State on Dec. 13," said Burgess concluding his thoughts on the four schools.

Expect Burgess to makes his decision shortly after that final visit as he plans to be heading to one of those schools for the spring semester.
