Recruiting: Sharp Ready For OSU

Yet another committed prospect making his official visit to Oklahoma State was kicker Quinn Sharp of Mansfield (Summit), Texas. Sharp actually was the very first player to commit to Oklahoma State in the 2008 class as he was recruited by assistant head coach and running backs coach Curtis Luper with help from associate head coach and special teams coordinator Joe DeForest.

Sharp has done anything but disappoint as he was featured in Sports Illustrated and is considered by kicking guru Chris Sailer as the top place-kicking prospect in the nation in this class. Sharp earned all kinds of honors this season including All-State after hitting 13 of 14 field goals, including a long of 55 yards, and averaging close to 42 yards on punts.

His visit this weekend went just fine. "It was good," said Sharp. "I had a lot of fun. I got to meet a lot of the players and was able to spend more time than before with the coaches. We had the tour to see more of the stadium and the end zone project, and I saw more of the campus."

Sharp said he had two hosts this weekend with quarterback Alex Cate showing him around on Friday and punter Matt Fodge showing him around on Saturday.

"They were both good guys," added Sharp. "It was good that I got to meet and spend time with the specialists. I met Dan Bailey (kicker) and Zach Allen and Marc Yerry. I know those are the guys that I will be working with the most and spending the most time with."

Sharp said he is all set to sign with Oklahoma State on National Signing Day, a week from Wednesday. He is also busy right now with his second sport, baseball. Sharp is an outfielder and feels that Summit has a good chance in baseball this season.

"We have two good pitchers returning that are solid and we have seven of our offensive and defensive players returning," said Sharp of the Summit baseball squad. "I think we have a good chance of winning district this season."

OSU fans sure hope Sharp can hit the curve ball, but really hope that his kicks will be straight and long.
