Recruiting: Staley Says He's 50-50

Oklahoma High School Offensive Player of the Year Kye Staley of Guthrie, Okla., is going to keep fans on edge a little longer. The player that produced 2,325 yards and 42 touchdowns on the season that culminated in a 5A state championship for the Blue Jays made a well publicized visit to Arkansas this weekend. talked Sunday evening with Staley about the trip.

Staley has been committed verbally to Oklahoma State since August. The trip to Arkansas went well according to the 6-0, 200-pound Staley.

"It was a lot of fun," said Staley of the visit to Fayetteville. "I was shown around mostly by Coach (Garrick) McGee and Jamar Love."

Love is a sophomore cornerback out of North Little Rock, Ark.

While some reports surfaced in Arkansas that had Razorback coaches saying they felt Staley was going to honor his commitment and sign with Oklahoma State, Staley's comments on where his situation stands currently were a lot more vague and interesting to probably fans on both sides.

"I still consider myself committed to Oklahoma State," said Staley. "Right now though with the two schools it is 50-50. Now that I have made my visits to both schools I need to take a week to just sit back and think about it."

We told Staley that since both he and his high school head coach, Rafe Watkins, have our number we will let him take his time and call us when he has a final answer.

We still think the situation strongly favors Oklahoma State but this is recruiting and more precisely, this is basically a week before signing day recruiting. It seems like there is always some drama for nearly everybody.
