10 Questions With Justin Horton

GoPokes.com recently caught up with several of the Oklahoma State signees to ask "10 Questions" designed to allow Cowboy fans an opportunity to get to know the players who will be signing next Wednesday. Here are the answers provided by tight end Justin Horton of Henderson, Texas.

1) What about Oklahoma State first caught your eye?
Horton: To be honest, at first I didn't know anything about them. First I got a letter in the mail that they'd seen me on film and they wanted to offer me a full scholarship. That was a big deal because a lot of people don't get full rides out of Henderson because it's so small. I guess what caught my eye first was the color. I love the colors. Orange, black and white looks good.

2) What was your deciding factor in committing to the Cowboys?
Horton: I sat down and talked to my parents about the academics and they graduate, what is it, something like 93 percent of their players. They run the same offense that we run (at Henderson) – the spread offense. The tight end flexes out a lot and plays a lot of receiver, so I liked that.

3) What are three words that describe you as a person?
Horton: Outgoing. Happy. Courageous.

4) What are three words that describe you as a football player?
Horton: Intimidating. Speedy. Dominant (in referring to high school football).

5) What is your favorite thing to do on the field?
Horton: I've got to say if I had a favorite it would be to run a jet sweep. Or, if not that, I'd run a post corner where the safety bites on my post, I break to the corner really quick and the quarterback puts it on my outside shoulder so I can get it and go.

6) What is your favorite thing to do off the field?
Horton: I like to spend time with my family and friends, and I play video games. I have a lot of hair on my head, so my Mom makes me take care of that.

7) If you don't go to the NFL, what profession would you like to enter?
Horton: I want to coach. I love kids. I want kids to have the same chance that I've had. I want to come back and give to the kids, and see that they have a chance.

8) What are you most looking forward to in terms of playing at OSU?
Horton: I never had an opportunity to go to the playoffs in high school, so I want to be a part of a winning team and be a big help to the team.

9) What do you feel will be your biggest challenge in moving from high school to college?
Horton: In high school I'm a big body. I'm 6-4, 220 (pounds). In college, there are a lot of guys 6-4, 220. I basically have to learn how to use my body over again. I'm going to have to learn how to use my speed and my body to my advantage.

10) Who is the one player on Oklahoma State's roster or in your recruiting class that you are most looking forward to being teammates?
Horton: I have two actually. I've got to say Dez Bryant for number one. Brandon Pettigrew. He's one of the best. He can run, he can catch it, he can make a move, he can run you over, he can do whatever he's got to do to get by you. I'm going to love learning from him.
