10 Questions with Cooper Bassett

GoPokes.com recently caught up with several of the Oklahoma State recruits to ask "10 Questions" designed to allow Cowboy fans an opportunity to get to know the players who will be signing on National Signing Day. Here are the answers provided by tight end Cooper Bassett of Tuttle, Okla.

1) What about Oklahoma State first caught your eye?
Bassett: I grew up as an Oklahoma State and went up to some games as a kid. I always dreamed of maybe one day putting on the orange and black. It wasn't anything new to me that caught my eye, it's just I grew up an OSU fan.

2) What was your deciding factor in committing to the Cowboys?
Bassett: I think the bottom line is where did I want to go to school, regardless of football, and it was Oklahoma State. Then once I got up there and met the coaches, and growing up knowing the atmosphere of OSU and already being familiar with the campus, it made the decision a no-brainer.

3) What are three words that describe you as a person?
Bassett: Hard working. Average. Joe.

4) What are three words that describe you as a football player?
Bassett: Hardnosed. Competitive. Winner.

5) What is your favorite thing to do on the field?
Bassett: Catching passes.

6) What is your favorite thing to do off the field?
Bassett: I like going to any of my little (13-year-old) brother's sporting events.

7) If you don't go to the NFL, what profession would you like to enter?
Bassett: I'd like to be a college coach some day.

8) What are you most looking forward to in terms of playing at OSU?
Bassett: The thing I think I'm going to look forward the most is coming out every Saturday and playing in front of the 60,000 fans that are going to be in Boone Pickens Stadium. I'm just excited to be able to put on the orange and black jersey, and play in front of all the fans.

9) What do you feel will be your biggest challenge in moving from high school to college?
Bassett: I think it will be the competitors that I'll be going up against. Playing (Class) 3A football, I've been one of the bigger guys all season and haven't really matched up with guys bigger than me, or if they can match me in size then they haven't really been able to match me in speed. I think just the level of competition.

10) Who is the one player on Oklahoma State's roster or in your recruiting class that you are most looking forward to being teammates?
Bassett: It's definitely got to be (Brandon) Pettigrew. That guy is a freak, and any tight end that's watched him play definitely wants to emulate him. Getting to play and practice with him, and picking up any little thing I can pick up, that's going to help me tremendously. I look forward to it.
