Recruiting: Lowe Running, And Having Fun

Standout safety prospect Daytawion Lowe of Midwest City (Carl Albert), Okla., is down the road with his track season but says he is still just in the checking out phase in recruiting. The 6-1, 185-pound speedster has written offers from Tulsa and Western Carolina added to a list that already includes Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Kansas, Missouri and Baylor.

"I'm just doing recruiting," said Lowe with a chuckle. "Yes sir, I'm having fun with it."

Lowe said he is still trying to gain an idea of each of the schools and what he is exactly looking for. His teammate, Carl Albert running back David Oku, recently paired his list down to all schools out of state. He actually did not eliminate Oklahoma State, but the Cowboys already have one running back prospect committed in Tulsa Union standout Jeremy Smith.

"I talked to him after it came out," said Lowe. "He didn't tell me before he did it. He told me it (OU) just wasn't the place for him and I agreed with him. You have to do your own thing."

That is exactly what Lowe is doing and he has been to practices this spring at both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. Meanwhile, track season is going very well for him.

"Last week I won both the 400 and the 200," he said. "My time in the 200 was 21.9 (seconds). This Friday we have a meet at Midwest City."

Lowe and his Titan football teammates will conduct spring football in May after track season is completed and we plan on stopping by to watch a practice.
