Recruiting: Mississippi QB Has OSU Connection

Quarterback Clayton Moore of Louisville, Ky., added two more written scholarship offers Tuesday as East Carolina and Louisiana Tech weighed in on the their high opinion of the 6-2, 205-pound offensive dynamo. Moore has 15 offers in all that also includes Oklahoma State, Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Mississippi and more.

"Yes sir, I am having a good time," said Moore of recruiting. "I'm glad to have the opportunity to have offers. Any offer is a good offer."

He would also have an offer from Notre Dame but he explained that there was a problem with his transcript getting to the Irish, and he still is not certain if it has been sent to South Bend.

Moore threw for 3,046 yards and 30 touchdowns last season with just 13 interceptions. He also ran for 844 yards and 10 touchdowns in leading Louisville to the Class 3A state championship. Right now he is playing shortstop on the Louisville baseball squad. That duty has kept him from getting around to many spring football practices although he said he did check out one at Ole Miss.

Moore said he grew up a Mississippi State fan because his uncle, Davey Crawley, was a holder and special teams player along with a backup wide receiver for the Bulldogs. We were curious what he thought when the offer came from the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

"Like I said, I think any offer is a good offer," he said. "Coach (Gunter) Brewer I'd met several times at the Manning camp and he came to my hometown to visit family or a family reunion. I saw him at a restaurant and went up to him and we talked."

Moore said he is not in a hurry and will take his time with recruiting, and he will keep an eye on a number of schools including Oklahoma State.
