Recruiting: Smith Says He Will Camp Some

We haven't checked on running back Jeremy Smith of Tulsa (Union), Okla., really since he announced his verbal commitment to Oklahoma State in February. Smith spoke with a recruiting correspondent from a Michigan outlet earlier this week and was quoted as saying he is going to take some unofficial visits, but is still committed to OSU. You know us, we don't trust anybody else so we had to check.

"I'm still committed to Oklahoma State," said the 5-11, 200-pound speedy All-State running back. "I am going to take some unofficial visits this summer, and then I'm going to take my official visits during football season."

Visits? So you will take several official visits too? "Yes, I'll take some," answered Smith. "I'm looking at Michigan, Missouri, Kansas, Texas A&M, and now Colorado. I'm going to go to some camps this summer and those will be my unofficial visits."

Is this something that Oklahoma State fans should be concerned about? "No, it's nothing to worry about," said Smith. "No, not at all. I'm still committed to Oklahoma State. That's my school. I'm going to take one of my official visits there."

Smith said he had been running track, but he suffered an injury. "Hamstring," he said. "I think it is a strain, but they said there is some torn tissue."

That hasn't kept the second team All-Stater who rushed for 1,748 yards and 20 touchdowns on 256 carries from staying in spring football. The workouts have been in helmets so far, but the full pads go on next week.

"I'm looking forward to it," said Smith, who admitted a number of coaches have still come by the school showing interest. Smith reiterated that he is committed to the Cowboys, but just curious about some other schools.
