Recruiting: Q&A With OSU Commit Brandon Webb

The big news, and make no mistake that it's big news, that All-State offensive lineman Brandon Webb of Owasso, Okla., made a verbal commitment to Oklahoma State has been out, but there has been no comment from Webb himself on the commitment. We spoke with the 6-4, 295-pound Webb and found him very comfortable and happy with his decision. Here is our conversation with the newest Cowboy commitment.

GP: What made your mind up to commit to Oklahoma State?
Webb: Just out of everywhere I went and every school that was recruiting me, Oklahoma State seemed like the best place for me. The best fit and that was how I felt.

GP: We know that your father (former OU All-American offensive guard Terry Webb) had said this would be your decision. What did your parents say when you told them? Webb: Just like, sure, are you positive about it. I said yes, and they said, okay.

GP: When did you know in your heart that this was your decision to commit to Oklahoma State?
Webb: I would say a couple of days ago is when I knew for sure. Then I took a couple of days to think about it and make sure. Today I did it. I wanted to do it before my senior year. This season I want to focus and get better (as a player).

GP: This isn't the case with me, but I've already had people come up to me that know your dad and say, 'how did this happen?' I'm sure you've had some of that too. So, how did this happen?

Webb: It's funny because I have had lots of people say, how did this happen. It's the best place for me. I liked OU, but OSU just seemed better and it is a better fit for me.

GP: So, how did you go about making your commitment?
Webb: I called Coach Wick (OSU offensive line coach Joe Wickline) first and talked to him. Then I called Coach (Mike) Gundy and made it official.

GP: Will you be at the OSU prospect camp on Sunday?
Webb: Yes, I think I'll come over there.

GP: And what are your plans this summer?
Webb: I'm kind of taking the summer off (as far as a summer job), and I'm working out and getting ready for the upcoming season.

(Note: Webb will be appearing on Robert Allen's show on Triple Play Sports Radio out of Stillwater on Thursday morning at 11:15 a.m.)
