Recruiting: Alabama CB High On OSU Wish List

We heard recently that new Oklahoma State assistant coach Jason Jones, a former Alabama player, has an Alabama prep cornerback high on the Cowboys' wish list. We decided to do some research on that premise. Eric Graham is a 5-11, 180-pound corner out of Prichard (Mattie Blount), Ala., that lists Oklahoma State along with Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, and Tennessee.

Dre Kirkpatrick is considered by Scout the top corner prospect in Alabama and he has been offered by a bunch of schools, including homestate Alabama and Auburn. Texas has also offered the 6-2, 180-pound Kirkpatrick a scholarship. He is a standout for Gadsden City, Ala.

We couldn't reach either Graham or Kirkpatrick, but we did speak with Gerald West, who is also considered a top-flight prospect. The speedster from Mobile (Davidson), Ala., is 5-10, 165 pounds and very talkative.

"Yes, I am the top rated cornerback in Alabama," said West when told why we contacting him. "I haven't heard from Oklahoma State, but I have offers from all the SEC schools, I mean all of them like Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Vanderbilt, LSU, Mississippi, all of them. I have also heard from Texas and Southern Miss. but not Oklahoma State. If they called I'd like to visit and see their campus and their facilities. I'd be happy to take a visit."

West had 36 tackles and three interceptions last season at Davidson. He has yet to trim his list of schools.

"Oh, I'm still weighing my options," said West. "I'm going to take my time because I've got almost a whole year to decide, so I'm not in any hurry."

That means Oklahoma State has time if they are interested in West, but chances are it is Graham that is their man in Alabama.
