Recruiting: Tettleton Pleased With OSU Camp

Quarterback Tyler Tettleton of Norman (North), Okla., had to feel a little like the center of the show Sunday in Stillwater at the Oklahoma State prospect camp. The Cowboys are looking for one quarterback in their recruiting class and coming off knee surgery that caused him to miss last season, Sunday's camp was an opportunity for Tettleton to impress the coaches.

Tettleton has said he is very interested in Oklahoma State where his father was an All-American and all-conference standout in baseball before going on to the Major Leagues. Tettleton is also being recruited by a number of schools including Tulsa, Kansas, Nebraska, and others.

So how did it go with OSU on Sunday?"I thought it went well," said the 6-0, 190-pound quarterback. "I felt like I performed well and believe I did the best I could."

Tettleton ran really well posting one of the better 40 times in the camp with a 4.55. It was a time that got the attention of the OSU coaching staff. "Wow, I didn't know what my times were," said Tettleton. "They don't tell you, but that is a good time."

During the throwing drills and the 7-on-7 work, several quarterbacks got plenty of reps including Tettleton. As we reported earlier he threw the short and intermediate routes well and threw well on the longer routes although he floated a few, which happens to all quarterbacks.

Tettleton has improved his throwing each year since first drawing starting assignments at quarterback as a freshman. We wondered what kind of feedback he received after the OSU camp.

"They said they were happy with what they saw and that they were interested," said Tettleton of how it was left. "I have camps coming up on Friday at Tulsa and Saturday at Kansas and I know they have some camps this week. They said let's get through the camps and then they would get back in touch."

Tettleton is in the best shape of his life getting ready for the upcoming season and he will definitely improve on his numbers from his sophomore season when he hit 137-of-260 passes for 1,852 yards with 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

The Oklahoma State coaching staff has a camp in Ardmore on Tuesday and then a three-day camp in Stillwater starting on Thursday. Tettleton will be in Tulsa and at Kansas for camps this Friday and Saturday.
