Recruiting: New Name To Add From Texas

Ryan Grametbaur is a linebacker fromNew Braunsfels, Texas who will make the move to safety. Grametbaur can run, as he showed at the Mary Hardin-Baylor camp in Belton, Texas on Monday in front of some of the Oklahoma State coaching staff. Grametbaur drew some attention.

"It (the camp) was really good for me," said Grametbaur. "I ran a 4.5 on grass and that got a lot of the coaches talking to me. They were talking to me about the star linebacker position.

"I played linebacker last season and this season I'm moving to safety. My coach had told me that he thought they (Oklahoma State) was interested in me and that was a camp that I probably should go to."

Grametbaur forms an imposing tandem at New Braunsfels with linebacker Tom Wort, who has already made a verbal commitment to Oklahoma. He had 199 tackles last season with 89 being unassisted. He also had six tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, and two fumble recoveries.

The 6-2, 205-pound Grametbaur has the reputation of being a very physical tackler. He has a 280-pound bench press and a 405-pound squat.

"I ran track this spring and it went okay," said Grametbaur. "I just ran the 100 and 200 some."

It all makes for an interesting blend, a track athlete that is very physical and big enough to be a linebacker but with the speed to play in the secondary. That's a nice prospect.

Grametbaur said he will be showing off in Waco on Friday at a Baylor prospect camp and then will be at a TCU camp in July. Meanwhile, the Cowboys have obviously seen enough to pique their interest.
