Recruiting: Cross QB Off OSU's List

"Yes sir, yes sir it is a big load off my mind," said Briarcrest High School quarterback Chris Campbell of his commitment to Southern Miss. Campbell accepted the offer from Southern Miss and head coach Larry Fedora on Monday over interest from a lot of schools including Fedora's last coaching stop, Oklahoma State.

"I really appreciated the other schools that showed interest in me but it was just everything about Southern Miss. When I went down there it was the players, the coaches, the feeling, the whole atmosphere was just right," added the 6-4, 197-pound private school signal caller out of Tennessee.

Campbell threw for more than 1,100 yards and something like 12 touchdowns despite being in a run-oriented offense. When you watch him on tape you can see he has a legitimate arm and can make all the throws. He also has some mobility to him that will allow him to play well in the spread offense that Fedora employs.

Campbell was definitely on the Oklahoma State list, but at the top of that list we believe are Cody Green of Dayton, Texas, Mississippi standout Clayton Moore, and Drew Allen out of San Antonio Alamo Heights in Texas.
