Recruiting: Cody Green Close To Decision

Quarterback Cody Green of Dayton, Texas, had said he was looking for a school where he could play in an offense that accommodates a dual threat quarterback and where he can major in agriculture. Say that sounds like a fit for Oklahoma State.

However, it was a sure sign when the 6-4, 220-pound Cody Green didn't show at a Mary Hardin-Baylor camp earlier this month where a number of Cowboy coaches were pitching in that maybe OSU was off the list.

"Yes sir," said Green earlier Wednesday. "I have pretty much eliminated everybody except Nebraska and Texas A&M. Yes, I have eliminated Oklahoma State and I am probably going to make a decision soon, maybe within a week."

Green certainly fits the bill for the Cowboys, but for some reason it never seemed like a fit. Green is a highly regarded prospect that missed all but two games last season because of ligament damage in his right ankle. Surgery was successful and he is set to go for this season. His injury from last season has not seemed to impact how schools or recruiting rankings have evaluated him.

As for how his summer is going, well, according to Green it is going better now that he has narrowed his big list down.

"No more camps, and a decision coming up soon," said Green sounding somewhat relieved. "it'll be in the next week or so."
