Booker, New Cowboys Get First Class Treatment

The new reporting freshmen got their first exposure Saturday to strength and conditioning coordinator Rob Glass and his staff. The new Cowboys included all the remaining freshmen except Dallas Skyline linebacker Alfred DuPree, who is not expected to be eligible. Navarro J.C. linebacker Donald Booker reported and has had his physical and been checked out equipment along with all the new freshmen.

The Saturday morning get together was really kind of a testing and orientation session so the strength and conditioning staff could get an idea of where all the new players are in conditioning.

As to be expected, there are some that will take some work to get in shape. Highlights include Tuttle tight end Cooper Bassett, defensive end Nigel Nicholas, Waco safety Victor Johnson, the Bayou Bowl duo of cornerback Broderick Brown and safety Johnny Thomas, and Medina Valley offensive lineman Patrick Hoog.

The new group has been on campus since Wednesday and haved moved in. Monday is the start of the second summer school session and their workouts will begin in earnest then. They will work with Glass and company separately, but will work with the returning veteran squad members in the evening skill and 7-on-7 sessions.

The arrival of Booker was excellent news as he needs to start getting familiar with the defense.
