"I was at Texas A&M last Sunday at a mini-camp in College Station," said Weaver of his latest recruiting excursion. "They (A&M coaches) had a long talk with my mom and me. They say they have 21 commitments and they just need four more and I might need to decide soon. I'm going to wait it out."
The 6-3, 215-pound Andrew Weaver, who was a unanimous All District 16-4A selection last season at defensive end, has been productive on the Lions defense the last two seasons. He confirms that his schools are really down to the Aggies and the Cowboys. He said his mom and sister went with him last weekend to Texas A&M.
"The coaches were working on them and they want me to go to A&M," said Weaver of his mom and sister. "I'm trying to work it out with Coach (Doug) Meacham to go up and visit OSU. I want to go this weekend. I'll take my dad with me to Oklahoma State."
When Weaver says he will wait it out the curiosity is how long does waiting it out come down to?
"I thought I might wait it out to signing day or later in the year, but now I might not wait it out," explained Weaver. "I might commit after this weekend, after I go visit Oklahoma State. That is what you can say, I will commit this weekend after I do that (visit OSU)."
Weaver has 4.8 speed and according to Waco High head coach Johnny Tusa his defensive end is adept at stopping the run as he is rushing the quarterback off the edge. Weaver is a good player that may be a little underrated.
