Recruiting: Lott Off To A Good Start

Derrick Lott of Kennesaw (North Cobb), Ga., is off to a good start on his senior season. The Oklahoma State Cowboys have shown plenty of interest in some of the better players in Georgia and Lott is one of those as the 6-4, 270-pound defensive tackle is on a number of wish lists.

"I think we're playing pretty good," said Lott of the 1-1 start for North Cobb. "My first game was good. I had 12 tackles, three sacks, three tackles for loss. We were playing MLK (Lithonia Martin Luther King). Our second game was against Harrison (Kennsaw Harrison)."

This week Lott and his teammates will host Kennesaw Mountain High School.

As far as recruiting Lott says little has changed.

"Everything is about the same," he said. "There are a whole bunch of colleges sending me mail and contacting me and I want to get to the bottom of it and work toward choosing a college.

"I'm planning on waiting until after the season and taking my (official) visits. I'm down to five or six schools right now. Yes, (Oklahoma State) is one of them. I've seen they've been winning big."

The other schools on Lott would be Georgia, Louisville, Florida State, Mississippi, and South Carolina, with Central Florida trying to stay in as well.

"I want to study business," said Lott when asked about a major. "I'm looking at coaches, teammates, all those things. I want a place where I can have a good home and be part of a good football program."

The recruiting for Derrick Lott should get very exciting after the end of his senior season.
