Recruiting: Petersen Gets Another Offer

Quarterback/safety Turner Petersen of Oklahoma City (Heritage Hall), Okla., says he favors Oklahoma State in his recruiting thus far but he has now added another scholarship offer.

"I was offered today by the Naval Academy," Petersen said when he called this evening. "My dad and his dad both went to the Academy," added Petersen when asked if he was familiar with the Naval Academy in Annapolis during his time growing up on the East Coast.

Heritage Hall is unbeaten at 5-0 and ranked number one in Class 2A. Last week the Chargers defeated fourth-ranked Kingfisher 28-2 with Petersen throwing three touchdown passes -- 47 yards to Ricco Phinisee, 23 yards to Banning Fudge, and another 43 yard pass to Fudge.

Petersen had returned an interception for a touchdown the week before and he has played really well on both sides of the ball all season. Oklahoma State appears to be looking at him as an outside linebacker prospect.

"I think I want to stay a little closer to home," said the 6-2, 195-pound Petersen. "I really favor OKlahoma State."

Petersen has also been offered scholarships by Tulsa and Rice. He has received interest from Texas Tech and Houston.
