Recruiting: Richardson A New Name At LB

Ada (Okla.) High School is no stranger to good football talent with a number of players that have played major college football and some that have moved on to the NFL. We may have overlooked a serious prospect from that traditional football community this summer. Colton Richardson is starting to get some serious attention in recruiting.

"I'm going up to the game at Oklahoma State this weekend, their homecoming to see the game and meet Coach (Mike) Gundy," said Richardson. "I have offers from Tulsa and Northern Iowa and I am getting letters from OU, Arkansas, Kansas and Kansas State."

Richardson has all the right physical characteristics at 6-3, 225 pounds, as he has put on about 20 pounds since last season. He claims to have a 4.5 forty and doubles as a wide receiver on offense. He has a 265-pound bench press max and a 315-pound squat max. His grades are reported to be in good shape.

"I'm playing real good and this is the best year I've ever had," said Richardson who added that he didn't know his stats. "We are 4-2 (after a tough loss on Friday to power Tulsa East Central) and we are in good shape to make the playoffs. We are at Stillwell this Thursday."

As far as recruiting, Richardson said he is interested in Oklahoma State. "I want to stay in state so that I can be close to my family," he said. "Oklahoma State is a school I am very interested in."
