Recruiting: Ada's Richardson Gets OSU Offer

A really good Friday night for linebacker/wide receiver Colton Richardson of Ada, Okla., turned into an excellent Saturday afternoon and evening. Richardson and his Cougar teammates disposed of Stillwell 42-0 in an important district game Friday night, and he had six tackles and an interception he returned 35 yards.

The 6-3, 205-pounder is having a strong senior season and that is why Saturday turned out so well. Richardson got up early and headed to Stillwater for an unofficial visit to the Cowboys homecoming game with Baylor.

"It went really well," said Richardson of the visit. "Then after the game I got an offer. I was on the way home and the defensive coordinator (Tim Beckman) called me and told me about Coach (Mike) Gundy offering me a scholarship. I don't know if I yelled or anything but I was really excited."

Richardson has said he really prefers to stay in state and go to school and play football so he can be close to friends and family. He also has an offer from Tulsa, and he has been getting contacted by OU, Arkansas, Kansas, Kansas State and Northern Iowa.

So what is his plan from here? Is he going to set up visits, wait until after the season, try and decide on a commitment? He's not 100 percent sure, but it sound like the latter.

"I really like the coaches at Oklahoma State and that is a big factor right now," said Richardson. "If I wait until the end of the season then yes, I would probably set up visits, but if I decide soon then I won't be doing that."

This week Ada has a big chore taking on 5A power and top 10 program Tulsa East Central and they will get all of Richardson's focus. But he did say his decision and a commitment could come in the next few weeks.
