Recruiting: More With Colton Richardson

Wide receiver/linebacker Colton Richardson of Ada, Okla., made a verbal pledge to Oklahoma State last Friday after being in Stillwater the previous Saturday to see the Cowboys defeat Baylor. It may not be a surprise to many that Richardson grew up a fan of the Cowboys' bedlam rival Oklahoma. After all, Ada has long been known as a Sooner town, but with OSU's prowess some perceptions are changing.

"Most of my family followed OU, so, yes, I kind of grew up rooting for Oklahoma," said Richardson. "I can definitely handle being on the orange side of the rivalry now. I am very much okay with that."

The 6-3, 205-pound Richardson had a big night Friday as two playoff teams collided in 5A district play with Tulsa East Central defeating the Ada Cougars 37-28. Richardson had 10 tackles on defense and on offense caught six passes including a touchdown grab.

The week before this he had a 35-yard return with an interceptions for a touchdown against Stillwell. Ada will host Tahlequah this Friday as the regular season comes down to the final two weeks.

For Richardson, he says his recruiting has closed down.

"I've been thinking for a long time about where I wanted to go," he said. "It was where I was tired of thinking about it. I went up to Oklahoma State and I liked the school a lot, the campus, the people. I like the way the team acted and the way they played on the people. They were so enthusiastic. The coaches made me feel like I was at home. They are like father figures."

Richardson said he has not decided when he will take his official visit to Oklahoma State but it will come after the high school playoffs. He does know the next time he will be back in Stillwater.

"Not this week, but I will be back for the Bedlam game," said Richardson.
